The ″Falcon Table Lamp″ by Eichholtz pays tribute to a bronze falcon (ca. 1200–1220) forged in southern Italy and now in the collection of The Cloisters, The Met′s location dedicated to the art and architecture of the Middle Ages.
This skillfully cast figure has been associated with the Hohenstaufen emperors, a Germanic dynasty ruling over territories belonging to modern-day Germany and Italy. This proud avian likeness, which perhaps decorated a throne or the top of a tent pole, is reimagined as the base of this lamp, crowned with a linen-mix shade handmade in the Netherlands. HISTORIC PROVENANCE The Table Lamp Falcon takes its form from a southern Italian cast-bronze falcon that dates to the 13th century and is said to have been found in Italy in 1925.
Now in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, this falcon has been associated with the Germanic dynasty of Hohenstaufen emperors, who ruled over much of what are now Germany and Italy. While the emperors were known to carry staffs with eagles on top of them, this sculpture is thought to have decorated a throne or other design of furniture. It appears to specifically depict a gerfalcon, which suggests a connection to Emperor Frederick II, who wrote about the aristocratic art of falconry and pursed it as a sport.

Order Processing & Lead Times
In-stock items: Items in stock at our North Carolina warehouse ship in 10 to 14 business days. Items stocked at our Netherlands warehouse ship in 4 to 8 weeks.
Backordered items: We will email you an estimated ship window and keep you updated if schedules change.
Made-to-order items: Items that are part of our Atelier program are made to order in 4 to 6 weeks.
Shipping Methods
Curbside Delivery: Large or fragile items ship on a pallet. The driver unloads at ground-level threshold; driver does not bring items inside or remove packaging.
White-Glove Service (when available): Placement in the room of your choice, full assembly, and responsible removal of all packaging materials. Chandelier and overhead lighting fixture installation available as an optional add-on, arranged through a licensed electrician.
Delivery Appointments & Access
Both curbside and white-glove service require an appointment. Please ensure elevators, doorways, and hallways can accommodate the item(s). If the carrier cannot complete delivery due to access constraints, redelivery or storage fees may apply.
Tracking & Updates
Tracking information is emailed once your order ships. For freight shipments, the carrier will contact you directly to schedule delivery once the shipment arrives at the local terminal.

Any changes requested after a shipping label has been created may incur a carrier re-route fee and could delay delivery.
