Marble
The Object Artemis Column in Marble is an exquisite decorative object from the Eichholtz collection. The object ″Artemis Column″ pays homage to the grandeur of the Temple of Artemis at Sardis. Handcrafted from marble, each piece is unique, marked by variations in color and veining.
It echoes the architectural splendor of the original column, which stood over fifty-eight feet tall. The intricate foliate carving on the capital and the elaborate torus base reflect the unparalleled craftsmanship of the era. This column stands as a testament to ancient architectural mastery. HISTORIC PROVENANCE The Object Artemis Column is inspired by a marble column (ca. 300 B.C.) from the Temple of Artemis at Sardis, a highlight of The Met’s Greek and Roman art collection. The massive section of a fluted Ionic column, which stood at over 58 feet tall in its original location, showcases delicate foliate carvings on the capital—a unique feature among the surviving columns from the temple. The marble reinterpretation column boasts elegant ridged elements in homage to the column’s detailing and is crafted in marble, which rests on a black plinth. Crafted to Eichholtz standards, it balances timeless European sensibility with modern ease — a statement piece that layers comfortably into living, dining, or bedroom settings. Thoughtful finishes and curated textures invite daily use while preserving a quietly luxurious presence. Meticulously crafted from marble/stone, the Object Artemis Column possesses the weight, texture and surface depth that signals authentic luxury.
Proportioned at W. 9.5″ × D. 8.5″ × H. 17.5″, the Object Artemis Column anchors vignettes with quiet confidence. At approximately 158 lbs, its reassuring heft speaks to material quality.
Layer it with complementary Eichholtz objects for an effortlessly curated still life.
More than mere decoration, the Object Artemis Column is a testament to Eichholtz's belief that the smallest details carry the greatest impact.
