Dining Table Papyrus
Dark Brown Oak Veneer
Dining Table Papyrus by Eichholtz is a sculptural table that introduces a quietly luxurious presence into the room. The Met x Eichholtz introduces the Dining Table Papyrus, defined by sculptural form and rich materiality, bringing timeless elegance to the heart of your dining space. Crafted from exquisite brown oak veneer with an expressive open grain, this table draws subtle inspiration from ancient forms.
The base design echoes the organic geometry of a historic column capital in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, reinterpreted into a contemporary silhouette. Its presence is both grounded and graceful, making it a distinctive centerpiece for refined interiors. HISTORIC PROVENANCEThe Dining Table Papyrus takes its name and design inspiration from a capital bearing a papyrus motif that once crowned the column of a kiosk built in front of the temple of Amun at Hibis in Egypts Kharga Oasis.
Dating to 380343 BCE, the original column at The Metropolitan Museum of Art combines stylized representations of the common papyrus with foxtail flatsedge plantsan early example of the so-called composite capitals that unite decorative botanical forms into one cohesive design. Eichholtz honors this legacy by translating the Egyptian capitals rhythm and symmetry into the sculptural base of this modern table. Crafted to Eichholtz standards, it balances refined proportion with practical ease—designed to layer effortlessly into contemporary and classic spaces alike.
Thoughtful materials and considered scale create a lasting impression, inviting daily use while preserving an unmistakably refined presence. The design is completed with Dark brown oak veneer, showcasing the brand’s focus on texture and depth. Subtle detailing and intended for indoor use/dry locations only ensure it sits naturally within layered, thoughtfully curated schemes.
Styled on its own or paired with complementary Eichholtz creations, this sculptural table quietly enhances consoles, shelving, and accent surfaces. Each detail is considered to balance proportion, surface, and silhouette, resulting in an object that feels at once contemporary and timeless. The overall impression is one of understated opulence, allowing the surrounding architecture, art, and lighting to complete the story of the space.
