Bust Hermes
Marble Antique Look With Black Granite Base
The Bust Hermes in Marble Antique Look With Black Granite Base is an exquisite decorative object from the Eichholtz collection, designed to bring sculptural presence and curated refinement to every surface it graces. The Met x Eichholtz presents the Bust Hermes, inspired by the Roman copy (1st–2nd century CE) of a Greek marble herm (ca. 450–425 BCE)—a bust or head, often depicting the messenger god Hermes, rested on top of a stone pillar.
Featuring a marble finish and black granite base, our interpretation celebrates the grandeur of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. Elevate your decor with this timeless blend of historical charm and modern elegance. HISTORIC PROVENANCE Inspired by the Roman copy (1st–2nd century CE) of a Greek marble herm from 450–425 BCE, the Bust Hermes reflects the serene grandeur of classical portraits. Hermes, the messenger god, was associated with boundaries, and was often depicted near doorways and along the roadside, symbolizing protection. This piece echoes the timeless elegance of the original likeness at The Met. Crafted to Eichholtz standards, it balances timeless European sensibility with modern ease — a statement piece that layers comfortably into living, dining, or bedroom settings. Thoughtful finishes and curated textures invite daily use while preserving a quietly luxurious presence. Meticulously crafted from marble/stone, the Bust Hermes possesses the kind of weight, texture and surface depth that signals authentic luxury. Each piece is considered not merely as an accessory, but as a compositional element that enhances the narrative of the room.
Proportioned at W. 10.0″ × D. 11.0″ × H. 19.5″, the Bust Hermes anchors vignettes with quiet confidence — equally at home on a grand marble console as on an intimate bedside table. At approximately 263 lbs, its reassuring heft speaks to the quality of the materials within.
Layer it with complementary Eichholtz objects — bowls, vases, candle holders and sculptures — to build the kind of effortlessly curated still life that defines the world's most beautiful interiors.
More than mere decoration, the Bust Hermes is a testament to Eichholtz's belief that the smallest details carry the greatest impact. Thoughtfully placed, it catches the light, draws the eye and invites a moment of quiet appreciation — the essence of living well.

CARE
Care Instructions for Bust Hermes
(Marble Antique Look, Black Granite Base, Marble/Stone)
Daily Maintenance
- Dust marble and stone surfaces regularly with a soft, dry microfiber cloth to prevent grit from scratching the surface.
- Wipe spills immediately — marble and natural stone are porous and can absorb liquids, leading to stains.
Cleaning the Main Material
- Clean with a soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water and a pH-neutral stone cleaner.
- Never use vinegar, lemon juice, or any acidic cleaner on marble or stone, as acid etches and dulls the surface.
- Avoid abrasive pads or powders that can scratch the polished finish.
Placement & Protection
- Place on a stable, level surface to prevent tipping. Use felt pads underneath if on a delicate floor.
- Keep away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature changes to prevent cracking or discolouration.
Handling & Use
- Always lift stone pieces from the base — never drag or grip protruding elements.
- Use both hands when moving heavier busts to distribute the weight safely.
Long-Term Preservation
- Give the piece a thorough clean several times a year, including less accessible areas.
- Inspect periodically for any signs of wear or damage and address them promptly.
