Black Open Grain Veneer With Antique Mirror Glass
The Bar Metropolitan in Black Open Grain Veneer With Antique Mirror Glass is an exquisite expression of Eichholtz's unwavering commitment to design excellence. Introducting The Bar Metropolitan, part of The Met x Eichholtz collection, draws inspiration from the sleek lines of The Met’s front steps, this piece evokes the elegance of historical artisanship with a open-grain veneer and an antiqued mirror. HISTORIC PROVENANCE With influences from The Metropolitan Museum of Art and New York City, the Bar Metropolitan takes its design cues from The Met’s instantly recognizable architecture and the iconic steps leading up to the Museum. The Ba recalls the scale and grandeur of The Met’s Beaux-Arts entryway and Great Hall, as well as the Museum’s many artworks and objects and the way in which they’re presented. The collection also looks to the city’s iconic skyline, capturing its artistic and dynamic spirit. Crafted to Eichholtz standards, it balances timeless European sensibility with modern ease — a statement piece that layers comfortably into living, dining, or bedroom settings. Thoughtful finishes and curated textures invite daily use while preserving a quietly luxurious presence. Masterfully constructed from glass, wood, mirror glass, the Bar Metropolitan presents a surface that is both a functional essential and a sculptural centrepiece.
Proportioned for gracious living at W. 47.0″ × D. 19.0″ × H. 41.0″, this design anchors living spaces with quiet authority. Its silhouette balances visual weight with an airiness that allows surrounding décor to breathe.
Our design consultants are on hand to assist with spatial planning, material pairings and bespoke interior schemes that honour your personal style.
From intimate dinners bathed in candlelight to leisurely Sunday mornings with the papers, the Bar Metropolitan is designed to elevate every moment. CARE
Care Instructions for Bar Metropolitan
(Black Open Grain Veneer, Antique Mirror Glass, Glass, Wood, Mirror Glass)
Daily Maintenance
- Dust the glass surfaces gently with a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth to prevent smudges and fingerprint build-up.
- Wipe away any marks promptly using a dry cloth to keep the glass looking pristine between deeper cleans.
- Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfiber cloth, always following the direction of the wood grain.
- Wipe spills immediately with a slightly damp cloth and dry the surface thoroughly — standing moisture can damage wood finishes.
Cleaning the Main Material
- Use a dedicated glass cleaner or a solution of lukewarm water with a few drops of pH-neutral dish soap.
- Apply the cleaner with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping in smooth, even strokes to avoid streaks.
- Dry the surface immediately with a clean, dry cloth — never allow water to air-dry on glass, as it leaves mineral deposits.
- Avoid abrasive pads, scouring powders, or any cleaner containing ammonia, which can cloud or scratch the surface.
- Use a cleaner specifically formulated for finished wood surfaces, applied sparingly with a soft cloth.
Caring for Secondary Materials
- Dust wooden elements along the grain with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid excessive moisture on wood surfaces.
- Clean glass surfaces with a dedicated glass cleaner or a mix of lukewarm water and mild soap, drying immediately with a lint-free cloth to prevent streaks.
Placement & Protection
- Position in a stable location away from extreme heat, moisture, and direct sunlight to preserve the finish.
Handling & Use
- Lift with two people when repositioning, supporting from the base and strongest structural points.
- Never drag across the floor — this can stress joints and scratch flooring.

- Give the piece a thorough clean several times a year, including less accessible areas.
- Inspect hardware, joints, and structural fixings periodically and tighten or replace as needed.
